My ButtKicker Gamer Pro is not ShakingUpdated a year ago
There could be a couple of reasons why the Gamer Pro would not shake. It could be settings related or connection related.
Troubleshooting steps
The first thing to do is to try and pinpoint where the issue is. The best way to do this is to hit the test button inside of HaptiConnect with the ButtKicker device selected. What you are looking for here is whether on the front of the amplifier the signal and or clip LED light react when the test is active.
- If it is not reacting, then this will mean the issue is most likely before the amplifier and in most cases is going to be that we didn’t select the correct device inside of HaptiConnect.
If you do not see the amplifier signal and or clip LED’s active while the test is played, confirm you have the correct device selected.
- If you are connected to the PC with USB this will always display as “Speakers (#ButtKicker Pro)” in your Windows audio device list. If you do not see this option, you will want to unplug and plug in the USB and or move it to a different port. This makes the computer re-register the device and should correct the issue.
- If you are connected with 3.5mm to the PC this will take the name of whatever it’s plugged into. A common place this is connected is the green line out port on the back of the PC. This can be different for each computer but is most commonly referred to as “Speakers (Realtek R audio out)”.
If you do see the signal and or clip LED activate this means that the amplifier is seeing the signal but it’s not making it to the transducer.
- The LED directly reflects how loud the signal is. A solid or bright signal LED means it’s a moderate level of sound, a very faint flicker means the signal is very low volume. Clipping indicates that it’s too loud and it’s something we want to avoid as much as possible.
- It is possible to have the signal level loud enough to just barely activate amplifier signal LED but its not be loud enough to shake the transducer enough to feel. So make sure to check your volume levels.
- The Gamer Pro, unlike the Gamer Plus, has the added step of connecting the bare speaker wire to the ButtKicker transducer.
- Check to make sure that the cable hasn’t been pushed too far into the ButtKicker transducer post, as what can happen is the wires insulation can get caught in the post and interferes with the connection / signal being sent.
- Reseat the cable making sure it is clamped directly on the bare wire.
